Gerry 
Karst

Gerald (“Gerry”) Dwain Karst was born in Canada, and prior to his election in July 2000 to serve as a General Vice President of the General Conference Seventh-day Adventist Church, he was Assistant to the President of the World-wide Church.

He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in Michigan and is an ordained minister. For the past 40 years, Karst has served the church in various positions including Pastor-Evangelist of the Alberta Conference, President of the Newfoundland Mission, President of the Middle East Union, Director of Communication and Church Ministries for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada, as well as an Associate Secretary for the General Conference.  As VP, among other things, he serves as Chancellor and Board Chair of Adventist University of Africa.

Karst is married to Verna Lillian Moores and the couple has two married children: Julie Diane Satelmayer and Dr. Jeffrey Gerald Karst, and two grandchildren: Kaitlyn & Kyle.
