Restore a Child first year of operation was in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
where the Founder worked to help African American children in her own backyard in Silver Spring, Maryland. She would provide food and clothing and pay the rent for people who are being evicted. She also monitored sick and needy children to be sure they have medication, clothes and food.

For the first 20 years, from a small home office in her Beltsville, Maryland apartment, Norma Nashed worked unceasingly, without salary and benefits.

Then in 2012 Restore a Child started helping the Navajo Children in New Mexico, through the La Vida Mission. Professor John Youngberg and his students from Southern Adventist University built two green houses and installed a water osmosis system for the entire project. Fruit trees were planted, the kitchen and gym were remodeled, allowing the Navajo children to continue their education.
