Dear Friend of Restore a Child
The tragedy of September 11, 2001, stands as one of the darkest days in modern history, teaching the world the power of unity, and the necessity of compassion. In the aftermath of the attacks, people across nations were reminded that violence and hatred bring only devastation, but love and solidarity can bring healing. One enduring lesson of 9/11 is that adversity can either divide us or unite us—and when we choose unity and peace everyone wins.
In a similar way, the plight of orphan children around the world calls us to respond with compassion and generosity. These children face daily struggles. The Bible is clear about our responsibility: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27). Just as 9/11 left behind children who suddenly found themselves without parents, millions across the globe live without the safety net of family. Their vulnerability highlights the world’s responsibility to step forward with the same urgency and love that Scripture commands, ensuring that the fatherless are not forgotten.
The Bible calls us never to forget the most vulnerable: “Defend the weak and the fatherless…” (Psalm 82:3). By learning from tragedy with compassion and love, we honor the heart of God by ensuring orphan children are given the opportunity not just to survive, but to thrive.
