Will the Children You Help "Be Few"?

In one week, I will travel with Omar Palmer, Senior Pastor of Palm Spring SDA Church, to personally assess the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. Reports describe widespread destruction—homes and churches flattened, schools damaged, and entire communities left without reliable access to clean water, electricity, and basic necessities. While statistics can quantify the scale of the disaster, they cannot fully convey the trauma experienced by the people especially children who have lost not only their belongings, but also their sense of security. My purpose in going is not simply to observe, but to listen, to evaluate urgent needs and to determine how Restore a Child can respond with precision and compassion.
Restore a Child is committed to delivering targeted relief—emergency food supplies, clean water solutions, temporary shelter assistance, hygiene kits, and educational materials to help restore stability for the children as quickly as possible. Beyond immediate relief, we will explore partnerships with local leaders to ensure that aid is distributed effectively and that recovery efforts strengthen the church and families for the long term. The leaders in Jamaica sent us a list of 12 projects needed for damaged schools. One of the completely destroyed churches needs to be rebuilt and all we need is $10,000 for a new church. Please help. Damaged schools need around $5,000 to be functional again.
The devastation is massive, but it is not beyond hope. We thank you for every dollar entrusted to Restore a Child that will translate into tangible relief for a child who has lost everything. Will the children we help "be few?" I invite each of our readers to stand with us in this endeavor. Together, we can ensure that even in the wake of disaster, compassion moves faster than the storm. Thank you for your generous support.
