Sierra Leone Orphans

Rosarr-Mabaifu is a coastal village about 60 kilometers from Freetown, Sierra Leone. There is no clinic, and the road is so bad that the nearest health facility, 30 kilometers away, is often out of reach. In the rainy season people have cholera, pneumonia, malaria and other diseases.

Thanks to Restore A Child, our Mobile Clinic reached more than 80 children under five, pregnant women and nursing mothers with free medical care. The majority of the cases were simple prevention or only needed basic treatment. However, in such remote villages, there are often more serious diseases that need more advanced testing and imaging. Children like Abu, who came with a mass in his neck that would change size. Without further tests, there was no way to know if this was dangerous or not. His mother, Aminata, had a similar mass. They were both able to come to the hospital, were examined by the consultant general surgeon, had labs and imaging done. Thanks to the tests and examinations at the hospital covered by Restore a Child.

Your donation carries care where there is none. Thanks to your donors who are saving lives in Sierra Leone.

James Fernando, M.D.

Medical Director of the Hospital
