Ukraine Orphans

Our private Christian school, Shchaslyve Misto (“Happy City”), located in Tyachiv, Carpathia, Western Ukraine, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this October. During Norma Nashed's visit to Ukraine, Valentyn Chevchuck, the Education Director of the Western Conference, accompanied Norma with a business man and we agreed to build a boarding school to provide quality education to young people from all around Ukraine.
The school now serves115 students in grades 1–11, along with 30 preschool children. We provide a nurturing, full-day learning environment that includes nutritious meals, spiritual guidance, and a variety of extracurricular activities such as fitness, table tennis, cooking, and art. Daily Bible sessions and the guidance of our school chaplain help students develop strong Christian values while growing intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually.
Despite the ongoing challenges of the war, we remain committed to providing every child with quality education in a safe and caring environment. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, discover their talents, and build a brighter future. Today, we invite you to become a partner in this important mission. Your generous donation, regardless of its size, will help provide nutritious meals, educational resources, and a nurturing Christian environment for these precious children. Your support is more than a financial gift—it is an investment in a child's future and a powerful expression of God's love. Together, we can bring hope, opportunity, and lasting change to the children of Ukraine.

Dear Norma,
On behalf of the Living Word School in Lviv, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Restore a Child for supporting us in the last 10 years and during the time of war. Every day, we face new challenges but we thank God for keeping us safe and invest in the education of the children of the war.
There are many internally displaced families who moved to Lviv from the areas of active hostilities such as Mariupol, Dnipro, Zaporizha, Sumy, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson. We have 140 students who need more attention and care because of their previous traumatic losses..Among our students are many children whose fathers are in the military defending our freedom and many children lost their fathers and are now orphans.
That’s why we organize after-school activities such as music, art and sports clubs, drama club and puppet theatre. Bible classes and a new club called “Young Peacemakers” with elements of art therapy and emphasis on developing communication skills.
We often have to go down to the shelter with children because of frequent air-raid sirens and right now we are working on accommodating a new safe shelter where children could continue to study despite alarms.
Please, we wish you God’s blessing to continue to support our important mission for orphans and children of the war in Ukraine.
Best regards,
Olena Kushnir, Principal
