World Orphans Day... 2nd Sabbath in November

November 14, 2026, is World Orphans Day, an opportunity to remember the 151 million (UNICEF) children who have lost one or both parents. Behind this staggering number are individual children who need more than sympathy. They need food, clean water safe shelter, healthcare, education and spiritual care. World Orphans Day calls us to turn awareness into meaningful action.
Restore a Child was founded in 1999 by Norma Nashed, who experienced poverty and orphanhood during her own childhood. The organization is built on the conviction that every vulnerable and orphan child deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope. For more than 27 years, and through your generosity, Restore a Child has worked to meet children's needs.
Announcement to Pastors and Church Leaders... Please share this... Thank you!
World Orphans Day, was adopted by Adventist Possibilities Ministries of the General Conference following the initiative of the United Nations and UNICEF. Since our church observes the Sabbath, the General Conference adopted the second Sabbath of November and added it to the official calendar of the General Conference. Please share with your churches around the USA.
At that time Dr. Larry Evans, was assistant to the the GC President for Adventist Possibilities Ministries, and Dr. Larry Blackmer, Chairman of Restore a Child Board of Directors, was VP for the North American Division. Dr. Blackmer asked Dr. Evans to add orphans to their ministry. Dr. Evans asked me to to meet with him at his GC office to discuss the work of orphans since we were already working with orphans for 20 years in more than 15 countries.
Thank you, donors and supporters, for your generous giving that helps provide basic needs and a place for a child to grow. So far we have built 21 schools for over 3,000 children. We cannot change the circumstances of every orphan overnight, but together we can change the future of individual children… one child at a time.
Please Join Restore a Child in making the second Sabbath in November (14) a day not only of remembrance, but also of compassion, generosity, and action. Thank you for your partnership.
